We aren’t big Valentines Day fans. Sure, I used to be. We used to make a big stink about everything and do the whole candy, flowers, cards thing. I would get the kids little boxes of candy and cards too. We would cook a fancy dinner and it would be a day for indulgence.
But I don’t blame Autism
I thank Autism
Without the discovery that the boy can’t eat a slew of foods, we would still be eating boxed mac and cheese all the time thinking that it was good home cooking. I would still be eating tons of junk and sugar without giving it a second thought. My whole familie’s health would be on par with the over-sugared, over-weight, under-exercised masses that we see so many places today. Because Autism entered our lives, I learned what a ‘real’ healthy lifestyle looked like.
So THIS is one area of my life that I take the time to be grateful that Autism has touched our lives. Without it, we wouldn’t be the healthy bodies that we are today. So instead of indulging in crazy amounts of chocolate candy and throwing money at ‘things’ we just don’t need ; we will all enjoy a treat of apple slices and melted chocolate flavored with Orange and Cinnamon Bark essential oils after dinner while we play a game of Scrabble.
I would love to hear from you! What is your favorite family treat? Do you celebrate Valentines Day?? Tell me all about it!
