Such a Helpful Boy :)

by Theresa Yeager

I am over the moon today! As you know, the Boy had a rough time after some oral surgery a few months back. He had to undergo general anesthesia and it just took him a very long time to get back to ‘himself’. All kids have a recovery period after something like that – but his just seemed to go on and on and on and on…

Today he followed directions like a champ.

OH happy day!!

Life skills are important!
Life skills are important!

He used to love to help me cook. Anytime I was cutting up veggies he would come over and help me load the pot – and then take a handful to eat himself 😉 Cooks always taste what they are making. To have him back in the kitchen, waiting for me to finish cutting so he could safely grab the food, putting it in the pot as directed and being part of the process was wonderful. Hubby put the pot at the edge of the counter and suggested the Boy slide the potatoes in instead of grabbing one handful at a time.

Guess what?

He did it <3

Have any accomplishments you are proud of? Share them in the comments! We are all here to support each other and shouting these gains to a community that ‘gets it’ is HUGE! Something as simple as sliding potatoes with a verbal prompt sent us over the moon. What did it for you this week?

move forward
